why should my organization join the OMA?
Who might be interested in participating in the OMA and why?
Many types of organizations can benefit from participation in the OMA, including mashup adopters, mashup-enabling vendors, mashup platform vendors, mashup solution providers:
- Mashup adopters already understand the fundamental value of mashups: better information for better decision-making. Participation in the OMA and familiarity with EMML can give mashup adopters exposure to emerging mashup solutions and best practices.
- Mashup-enabling vendors should always work to better understand the mashup service consumption demands, patterns and technologies used by mashup adopters. As EMML has many of these characteristics inherent in it's design, mashup-enabling vendors can improve their offering through their work with EMML.
- Mashup platform vendors know that mashup adopters want reduced risk and cost in their enterprise mashup implementations. EMML provides mashup platform vendors a mechanism to achieve these goals without complicated or proprietary product-specific approaches.
- Mashup solution providers want to provide the best possible mashup implementation services to their clients. Participation in the OMA and familiarity with EMML allows mashup solution providers to provide educated consultative advice on the state of the mashup industry and technology, to identify and capture mashup best practices, and guide the EMML specification to better support their client's organizational and industry-specific needs.
And, of course, each of these types of organizations can also contribute back to the OMA through the application of their mashup experiences in the evolution of EMML.

how does my organization participate in the OMA?
Membership in the Open Mashup Alliance is available to all organizations or individuals with an interest and commitment to the OMA objectives. There are two ways to join the OMA: as an OMA User or as an OMA Member.

How to get involved in the OMA: You can become an OMA User by joining the OMA's Interest Group discussion forum at http://groups.google.com/group/open-mashup-interest. You do not need to become an OMA Member to download the EMML schema and the runtime reference implementation. By simply joining the Interest Group discussion forum, you can discuss any OMA-related topic or question, technical or otherwise, with the rest of the OMA user commmunity.
